before_going_for_a_treatmen

In this age of modern medicine, dermatologic and cosmetic surgery is available for acne scars. But before going for a treatment one must necessarily examine their skin type and decide which treatment they should go for. Besides, the cost, purpose of the treatment and the number of days required to heal and no of days that the results are going to stay on for, all should be kept in mind before going for a treatment.
If a person is not very heavily affected by the scars and they do not have emotional and psychological effect on them, they might even choose to live on with them, but for the one’s whose social and mental health is deteriorating because of this, they should get themselves treated right away. Moreover, these expensive treatments should be sought only if the scars are particularly disfiguring. Before going for the treatment, one must have a frank discussion with the dermatologist and know whether the case is dire enough to go for medical treatment or no. for that, the dermatologist has to take a number of tests.
One must keep in mind after a treatment or even before going for it that the skin has been damaged by the scars. So there is going to be a trace of the damage even after the treatment. Nevertheless, acne treatment does give the skin a better physical appearance.

There are two kinds of acne scars:

1- Keloids- these are scars that are caused by the increase in tissue formation. They are also called hypertrophic scars, hypertrophy meaning an enlargement or an overgrowth. Excess deposition of the protein collagen in the tissue causes hypertrophic scar or keloid. When there is an injury in the skin, the immediate response of the body is to produce extra collagen and deposit it in the sight of the injury. The protein then settles as a mass of fibrous tissue, resulting in a firm, smooth and irregularly shaped masses of skin tissue.

The size of a keloid is generally a very few millimeters but in a few cases, it can grow up to a centimeter. This has genetic specifications and is passed on to the progeny as inheritance. People who have relatives with these scars are more susceptible to have them. This type of scar can persist from over a span of few years to the entire life time of a person. In some fortunate cases, its size reduces.

Life is not simple for people with such abnormal marks, especially on their face. They have to constantly face the unwanted glances of the people around them. There are cases when women have been rejected in marriage because of a familial scar that runs in her blood.
